200.000 Euros prizemoney

The Champions Trophy goes in production. This year, German gymnastic superstar Fabian Hambüchen plus seven other gymnasts fight for altogether 200.000 Euros prizemoney in four competitions held in Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Berlin and Mannheim.

The invitational tournament starts May 31st in Frankfurt within the International German Gymnastics Festival (30.05-05.06).

I´m hoping to see more international competitors from Japan, China, Canada and the USA.

Last year during the 26th DTB-World Cup the first test run of the Champions Trophy was successful. The Russian Maxim Deviatovsky won over Hisashi Mizutori (JAP) and Hambüchen.

Read the announcement in German.

I think it´s unbelievable how one single gymnast can change the sport in a country. Without Fabian Hambüchen, gymnastics would definitly not be as popular as it is. (Though gymnastics isn´t really popular in Germany compared to the USA.)
