USA defeats GER: competition report & results

USA (232.400) won over GER (219.700) – as expected. Click here for detailed results.

Bridget Sloan with her coach Marvin Sharp – she had the best all-around result: 59.55 (second was Corrie Lothrop with 56.50)

Here´s the competition report:

The friendly dual meet between Germany and the USA just started in Mühlheim an der Ruhr. A live ticker in German is available. But I´ll keep you also up to date (in English, of course).

In one team, there are seven gymnasts, all compete, five scores are selected before they start to compete and the four best results on every event (vault, bars, beam, floor) count.

These are the teams:

GERMANY: Anja Brinker, Kim Bui, Desiree Baumert, Elisabeth Seitz, Katja Roll, Susann Herbst (they only have six team members – it´s the first big competition for the juniors Katja and Desiree)

USA: Bridgette and Mackenzie Caquatto, Olivia Courtney, Sabrina Vega, Bridget Sloan, Mattie Larson, Corrie Lothrop, Kytra Hunter

They started warming up.

The competition arena, RWE Rhein-Ruhr-Sporthalle, is totally sold out (2500 seats).

Oksana Chusovitina is welcomed before they start a show programm.

The American girls start at the vault – the Germans at the uneven bars. I think it will be very difficult for the German girls to beat the strong USA team…

VAULT (USA)

Kytra Hunter – Yurchenko 1,5; little step – 14.300

Mattie Larson – Yurchenko 2 twists; step forward – 14.600 (5.8)

Olivia Courtney -Yurchenko 2 twists; nice height, twists finished – 14.500 (5.8)

Corrie Lothrop -Yurchenko 2 twists; not too clean – 14.300 (5.8)

Bridgette Caquatto -Yurchenko 2 twists; little step – 15.050 (5.8)

Mackenzie Caquatto – Yurchenko 2 twists; untidy legs – 14.850 (5.8)

Bridget Sloan Yurchenko 2 twists – 15.350

Obviously, all team members start, but only the four best scores count & Larson and Hunter don´t count from the start for the team result. It´s impressive: Nearly all of the girls do a Yurchenko with two twists!
