Older Olympians?

Russian (Youth) Olympian Viktoria Komova already dreams not only about competing at the Olympic Games in London 2012 but also about the Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, where she will be 21: “I want to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics and maybe for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics” (full story: FIG)

These days, the trend to work and train extremely hard in order to participate at one Olympic Games at the most seems to be “out”. Alicia Sacramone isn’t the only gymnast who stays (or makes a come back) in the sport, even after Beijing.

Okay, you can’t always only name Oksana Chusovitina as the perfect example of an old competitor in gymnastics – London might be her 6th Olympic Games :-).

Here’s a longer list of well-known Olympians who cannot get rid of their addiction to gymnastics: Ksenia Semenova, Ksenia Afanasyeva, Bridget Sloan, Jade Barbosa, Anna Pavlova, Sandra Izbasa, Vanessa Ferrari, Becky Downie, Koko Tsurumi, Ariella Käslin, Pauline Morel, Beth Tweddle… and maybe Shawn Johnson?

Which of them will we see in two years for another Olympics??
