Russian Team for Worlds

According to the Russian sports website sport.ria.ru Valentina Rodionenko announced the names of the gymnasts who will train for the World Championships: Viktoria Komova, Anna Dementyeva, Ksenia Afanasyeva and Yulia Belokobylskaya will train all four apparatus, Tatiana Nabieva will focus on vault and bars, Maria Paseka on vault and floor. And Alena Polyan who finished first on floor at the Universiade is also in the training team as well as Yulia Inshina – they both will prepare themselves as alternates for the team.

Rodionenko also spoke about Aliya Mustafina who really wants to go to Worlds but isn’t allowed to as they don’t want to risk anything. She might compete for the first time again in a meet in Mexico at the end of 2011.

So, this should be the Russian team for Worlds: Komova, Dementyeva, Afanasyeva, Belokobylskaya, Nabieva, Paseka. Alternates: Polyan, Inshina.

Please go to the website and read the article for yourself (especially if you speak Russian) as I’m not 100% sure that I’ve understood everything correctly from the translation.

UPDATE: Now IG and several other blogs published the news as well, so it’s absolutely correct.
