Rhythmic Gymnastic News

March 24, 2012
  • Not only artistic gymnastics, but also rhythmic gymnastics struggles with the 2012 competition calendar. After the B-World Cup (April 19-22) in Portimao, POR, the Grand Prix Tournament (15-17 June) in Bucharest, ROU, had been canceled due to financial problems.
  • Evgenia Kanaeva is back winning more and more competition. Recently, she dominated the “Baltic Hoop 2012” in Riga, where she won the AA with over 5 points ahead of her teammate Alexandra Merkulova. Here’s her clubs routine (YouTube):  More videos on YouTube.
  • And the UEG announced, Austria will host the 2013 European Championships:

The 29th European Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics for Indiv. Sen & Jun. groups will take place in Vienna from 25 May to 03 June 2013.

Leo, Leo, Leotards!

March 24, 2012

Spring is in the air! It’s time for new collections of leotards – some of them are weird, some quite funny and some even beautiful. Let’s take a look! Featured brands this time: USA’s GK, UK’s Milano and A star, France’s Christian Moreau and 9.9 Just Perfect, which hired Youna Dufournet as their model, and finally Germany’s ervy.

Here we have a GK workout leo which somehow looks like a bondage costume…

And now it’s official: Yes, when you’re finished in the gym you can jump directly into the swimmingpool without changing!

Lady Gaga’s favourite meat leotard, designed by Milano!

Beautiful color-combination, very elegant – all that I’m missing are the sleeves…

A Star

Go, Great Britain, go! – And that’s not the only patriotic leo, A Star sells.

A Star

The ultimate Christmas Leo.

A Star

Christian Moreau

With France’s colors, red blue and white, on the left shoulder, this could be a simple but nice warm-up leo for the Olympics…

Does this jacket-over-leo-look look good or not?

The blue version and still not sure what to think.

Ervy knows how to design some beautiful leotards…

…and some really ugly ones.

Acrobatic Gymnastics – Maia World Cup routines

March 23, 2012

Dear IOC, if you’re considering to add another sport to the Olympic Games, then please, not yoga, but acrobatic gymnastics. The performances are at an excellent level, beautiful to watch, artistic and with breathtaking acrobatics!

Acrobatic gymnastics doesn’t have as many competitions as artistic gymnastics, but the first World Cup was already held in Maia, POR on March 3rd-4th. Two more will take place in May/June in Germany and in September in Russia.

Watch the best performances, including my favourite mixed pair Nicolas Vleeshouwers and Laure de Pryck from Belgium who also won in their category.

Go High or go Home!

Britain`s Leotard for the Olympics

March 22, 2012

Stella McCartney designed all of Great Britain`s uniforms for this years Olympic Games. Here are her designs for gymnastics:

Becky Downie in sparkly blue.

Louis Smith in shades of blue and a tiny bit of red.

And a group picture including Becky Downie.

I actually like it, it includes the Union flag, it`s athletic and at the same time elegant and not too colorful.

Vasiliki Millousi’s web-site(s)

March 22, 2012

27-year-old Greek superstar Vasiliki Millousi might have one of the best cover photos on facebook. The drawing shows her signature move on beam combined with one of London’s landmarks, the Tower Bridge.

Apparently she does not only focus on every detail in gymnastics but also in the internet. Her facebook profil is very up-to-date with pictures of her in the gym, videos and more and she even started her very own blog, the Vasiliki Millousi Blog.

The logo above, printed on a white shirt, will be available next month – and it’s for a good cause:

My effort is based on the following idea: Gymnastics – Children – London 2012 Olympics and is a purely private initiative of mine.

To promote this idea we create a Collector’s T-shirt with my name, production of which has taken the company FREDDY ( and freddy.greece) and revenue from sales of energy will be available throughout the nonprofit organization “Smile of the Child” (

The ultimate goal of this effort is both to gather as much money as possible for the needs of the Association “Smile of the Child” and to promote the message of the Olympic ideal and the contribution of Gymnastics at younger ages.

The t-shirt will be available from April 2012 and can be purchased from:
1. From my online shop on Facebook:
2. From the online store of Non-profit Organization “Smile of the Child»:
3. From Beauty Queen Beauty Shop Street in Kolonaki 26 Pindar: and
4. From sporting goods stores, the company that works FREDDY (eg INTERSPORT).
