The Tournament of Masters (= Cottbus Challenger Cup) takes place next week(end), from March 22nd-25th in Cottbus, GER.
And the women’s competition will bring us at least four highlights: Due to withdrawals (Chuso, Fei, Masela, Ponor, Racea, Bulimar and maybe even Masela) there won’t be as many highlights as I was hoping for…
- China’s Cheng Fei competes her best events, floor and vault.
- Oksana Chusovitina, turning 37 on June 19th, performs at her first competition in the year which might be the one of her fifth (!) Olympic Games. She does beam and vault.
- Dutch gymnasts Celine van Gerner and Wyomi Masela (if her knee allows her) will both compete all-around. This is especially interesting as van Gerner went to court in order to get the one spot (currently given to Masela) to compete at the Olympic Games.
- Romania not only sends Catalina Ponor (FX, BB) and Diana Bulimar (UB, FX), but also Amelia Racea (UB, BB). Will a good bar routine bring her on the Olympic team – contrary to what Bellu said earlier this month!?
